Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson has announced plans for a special 50th anniversary tour of the album Pet Sounds.
Joining the singer will be fellow Beach Boys alumni Al Jardine and former member Blondie Chaplin. Wilson and the boys will do a series of UK shows in May including two nights at London Palladium.
According to Wilson, this will be the final time The Beach Boys 11th studio album will be performed in its entirety by Wilson. The shows tickets will go on sale this Friday January 29th at 9am.
Wilson says: “It’s really been a trip to sit here and think about releasing Pet Sounds 50 years ago. I love performing this album with my band and look forward to playing it for fans all across the world.”
For fans, this will be the news they have been waiting for as Wilson had been due to tour the UK last year including a run of shows in Liverpool, Cardiff, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow. But due to work commitments to his biopic film Love And Mercy, the shows were pushed back to 2016.
Ever the professional, Wilson explained at the time: “I’m sorry I won’t be able to make these shows this year, but I look forward to seeing all my fans in 2016 to help me celebrate 50 years of Pet Sounds. This will be my final European tour. I hope you all enjoy my movie when it opens in the UK on July 10, I’ll see you all soon. Best, Brian”.
