Weezer Release An “Unbeatable” 8-Bit Game

If you’re a fan of Weezer, of for that matter, a fan of gaming, the band is giving people a way to while away the hours while stuck at home with the release a new video game that they say is impossible to beat.

By clicking here at the band’s “The End Of The Game” website, which is by the way titled after the band’s song of the same name, you can take on a game that is designed specifically to be unbeatable. If you’re a fan of old school 8-bit retro games this is one for you. It’s a great piece of PR for the band as the game has the same name as a track that  appears on their upcoming album Van Weezer.

The press release for the game states: “It’s the perfect game to play while #stayingathome because you can’t beat it,” and added: “Really. We’ve tried. And it’s not just cause we aren’t that good at video games.”

“It’s a computer game ode to the boss levels are that are notoriously impossible to beat, harkening back to mid-’80s and early ’90s faves like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter II and Punch Out. It’s also a fairly obvious head nod to the band’s song “End of the Game” from their forthcoming album, Van Weezer, which is still set for release on May 15.”

Hey, give it a go, and perhaps you’re the one that beats the game. If you do, screenshot it and send it to  the Weezer camp for sure.
