He’s known as the singer of one of rock’s biggest bands— Aerosmith. But in a musical departure, frontman Steven Tyler has released a country album. It’s an understatement to say his new album has gotten off to a great start. We’re All Somebody from Somewhere has just landed at #1 on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart. Nielsen Music says the album sold 17,000 copies during its first week of release, which also gives the album a #19 debut on the Billboard 200 chart as well.
Recorded in Nashville, the album We’re All Somebody from Somewhere was co-produced by Tyler, and most of the songs on the record were co-written by him with various collaborators.
To date, three singles have been taken from the album—”Love Is Your Name”, “Red, White & You” and the title track.
Whilst Aerosmith has taken a hiatus, the 68-year-old singer launched a North American solo tour in July to support the album called the Out on the Limb Trek, which ends September 13th with a show in Toronto.
It’s certainly not the end for Aerosmith, once the singer’s solo tour winds down, Tyler will rejoin his Aerosmith band mates for a series of concerts that includes an appearance at the Kaaboo Festival in Del Mar, California, on September 17th with a run of Latin American dates in the fall.
