Industrial rock artist Trent Reznor and English film composer Atticus Ross are teaming up once again to write the score for the upcoming drama thriller Patriots Day.
Director Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon) announced the news on Instagram this past weekend stating in a captioned photo of the two musicians, “I couldn’t be more honored than to be working with these two straight up genius artists.”
Reznor and Ross have collaborated many times before. The two wrote the score to the 2010 film The Social Network directed by David Fincher, which won an Oscar for Best Original Score, and for the 2011 film adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (also directed by David Fincher), which Reznor and Ross won a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media in 2013.
Based on the events that took place at the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013, Patriots Day follows the aftermath of the attack and the search for the assailants lead by Boston Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis.
The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Melissa Benoist, Michelle Monaghan, J.K. Simmons, and Kevin Bacon. It lands in theaters on January 13, 2017 after its limited theater release this coming December 21, 2016.
