Super-group The Hollywood Vampires, that feature Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Johnny Depp, are set to release their sophomore album, Rise, and it’s due to drop on June 21st.
This will be a departure from the band’s first album, this time around the album will concentrate on new material with a few covers thrown in for good measure. The covers will be of tracks by recently departed artists including; David Bowie’s “Heroes,” which is sung by Depp; the Jim Carroll Band’s “People Who Died,” featuring Cooper on lead vocals; and Johnny Thunders’ “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory,” sung by Perry.
Prior to Rise‘s arrival, Cooper and the boys have uploaded the song “Who’s Laughing Now” as a digital single and via select streaming services.
Also on Rise, the track “Welcome to Bushwackers,” guest stars U.K. guitar legend Jeff Beck and also features lauded cult-film director John Waters.
Rise was produced by Cooper, Perry, and Depp, as well as Tommy Henriksen, the guitarist in Alice’s solo band
Cooper said of the album: “Rise is not only a totally different animal than the first Vampires album, it is unique to anything I’ve ever been a part of,” adding: “I approached it very differently than I usually do when working on an album. Each of us — Joe, Johnny, Tommy, and myself — have written songs on this album…I think that with this album, we are establishing what the Vampires’ sound really is.”
Adds Perry, “[Rise] is one of the freest and most honest sounding records I’ve been part of.”
