In exciting news for Sting fans, the singer has announced that he will be releasing new music in the near future. Via his website, Sting revealed that his next studio album, 57th and 9th, will be released on November 11th.
You can check out a newly released trailer promoting the record on YouTube. The video features the former Police singer working away in the studio and the video also has clips of him talking about the process of making the album.
“There are many different styles on this record,” Sting explains. “There’s a lot of rock ‘n’ roll, but if there’s a lyrical theme that runs through it, it’s about searching. It’s about traveling. It’s about the road. It’s about that pull of the unknown.”
With regards to the album’s feel, he says: “the album has a spontaneous feel in the way it was made.” Adding, “It’s not that polished. It’s played with energy.”
At the bright old age of the 64-year-old, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer doesn’t look like he’s slowing down. Recently he told Rolling Stone that 57th and 9th is “rockier” than he’s done in a while. Music in the background of the trailer is quite reminiscent of The Police and if this is an indication of what’s to come, then Police fans—rejoice.
Sting winds down his Rock Scissors Paper co-headlining tour with Peter Gabriel this Sunday, July 24th, in Edmonton, Canada.
