Kim Thayil, lead guitarist for Seattle music sensation Soundgarden, was a recent guest on an LA-based syndicated radio show with DJ Full Metal Jackie. The Soundgarden musician announced a fall release of a 25th anniversary edition of the grunge band’s third studio album Badmotorfinger.
Back in 2014, Thayil spoke with Billboard regarding the likelihood of rereleasing the album saying, “There are some B-sides, live material, I believe there may be rehearsal material. Badmotorfinger was very influential in the rock community. It had a strong influence on other musicians,” he said. “Badmotorfinger had an impact with listeners but also with guitarists and drummers and singers, people who started bands.”
The album contained the band’s popular singles “Rusty Cage”, “Outshined”, and “Room a Thousand Years Wide” and it was the follow-up album to Soundgarden’s Louder Than Love album in 1989.
The original album was released in October of 1991 while the reissue of the upcoming anniversary edition has a tentative release date for November 18, 2016.
