Slash to star in what, you might ask? Well, rocker Slash is set to star in a bizarre ”dark fairytale” movie.
The ex-Guns n’ Roses guitarist is the latest in a long line of musicians to join the bizarre Gutterdämmerung film, which has been described as a ”rock ‘n’ roll/film/gig concept” from visual artist Bjorn Tagemose.
The “November Rain” rocker is in great company for the movie with the likes of Grace Jones, Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Justice, Josh Homme and a host of other famous faces appearing alongside the guitar player in this rather weird tale. The basic premise being, Slash and his other co-stars go on a strange quest to find the ”phallic tool of eternal torment.”
Now, here’s another twist in this crazy film, despite the long list of music royalty in the line up for this 1920’s Hollywood-inspired film, the film will actually be silent apart from a lone piano and live rock band as the film is screened in theaters.
According to the Gutterdämmerung Facebook page, Slash plays a character that begins the quest for the “phallic tool of eternal torment.” Hmmm, we here at Rock My World have an idea of what that means, but we’ll wait for it to be explained in the movie.
So, what have we learned so far? The film tells the story of a world saved from sin, including sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, and has the Devil’s guitar, which is introduced by a ”punk-angel” called Vicious played by non other than Iggy Pop.
However, Henry Rollins plays an evil puritan priest who persuades a girl to retrieve and destroy a guitar sent down to earth, with the youngster battling against well-known rockers and a rival woman determined to prevent her destroying the instrument. Phew, did you get all of that?
Billed as “The Loudest Silent Movie on Earth”; all we can say is it sounds like a blast! Gutterdämmerung will premier in 2016.
