Santana has announced they will be releasing a brand new album called Africa Speaks. Due to drop on June 7th, the album is said to be “inspired by the melodies, sounds, and rhythms of Africa,” according to a press release on behalf of the band.
The album is produced by the acclaimed producer Rick Rubin and recorded at his Shangri La Studios in Malibu. As for the vocals on the new album, Santana turned to Buika, a three-time Latin Grammy winner from the island of Mallorca.
This has been a busy time for Santana, this is the second piece of product from Santana in 2019. Back in January, the band released an EP called In Search of Mona Lisa, and was apparently inspired by a trip to Paris. Africa Speaks will be the band’s first full-length release since Pipes of Peace, which was released in 2017 as a collaboration with the Isley Brothers.
Available for pre-order now, if you order from Santana’s website you can get a special bundle when you purchase the album, a T-shirt, a blanket and socks.
The band has also partnered up with other retailers for some exclusive deals that include: Barnes & Noble, which is offering a picture disc, as well as Target, which has a version of Africa Speaks with two added bonus tracks.
Santana will also be hitting the road this summer with the Doobie Brothers, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Grammy-winning comeback album Supernatural. The run will kick off on June 22nd in Phoenix and runs through till Aug. 25th where the tour winds down in Wantagh, N.Y.
