Legendary movie director David Lynch has announced the line-up for his upcoming music/art festival that will take place between the 8th and 9th of October.
The David Lynch Festival is set to feature a star studded list of rock musicians, DJ’s, artists and public speakers and is aiming to raise money for the filmmakers own charity ‘The David Lynch Foundation’. Lynch is one of the world’s biggest advocates of Transcendental Meditation (TM) and launched the charity in 2005 with the aim of introducing TM into schools all over the world, since then the foundation has branched out into many other fields aiding military veterans, the homeless, prison inmates and war refugees.
This years festival is set to feature Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant with his band ‘The Sensational Space Shifters’, Xiu Xiu, St Vincent, Quest Love, Jon Hopkins and Sky Ferreira. The event will also feature a live performance of the ‘Twin Peaks’ soundtrack conducted by long term Lynch collaborator Angelo Badalamenti as well as lectures by actor Mel Brooks, architect Frank Gehry and Blondie musicians Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.
Lynch himself is also due to give lectures about transcendental meditation and showcase an exhibit of his own personal photography.
The event will take place at the Ace Hotel and Theatre in Los Angeles and is a must visit, once in a lifetime experience for fans of the eccentric director.
In recent years Lynch has taken somewhat of a sabbatical from his filmmaking duties to focus on his art and music careers. His last feature length film was 2006’s ‘Inland Empire’, but fans will be pleased to know that the director has finally finished filming the long awaited third season of cult classic TV show ‘Twin Peaks’ which is expected sometime in 2017.
