Robby Krieger guitarist for the Doors will be contributing new music for an upcoming documentary about Prince titled Mr. Nelson: On the North Side. Krieger wrote and recorded the track called “Music Speaks Louder Than Words” for the film that focuses on Prince’s early life growing up on the north side of Minneapolis.
Robby Krieger posted on his official Facebook page, that he had recorded the tune at his Horse Latitudes studio in Los Angeles, and had soul/R&B singer Macy Gray along to sing lead vocals.
Krieger said of the Minneapolis legend: “Prince was an amazing artist, but he was also such an underrated guitarist.”
Mr. Nelson: On the North Side will have some serious star power in the movie, and all will share their recollections of Prince and discussing his contribution to the music industry.
The documentary is said to include appearances by Krieger, Gray, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Randy Bachman, Chaka Khan, Dennis Quaid, and ex-Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine.
Mr. Nelson: On the North Side was directed by Kirk Fera, and is expected to be released later in the year.
