The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced new dates for their first UK tour in over 5 years. The band, who are already set to play Reading and Leeds festivals this coming weekend, have added an additional seven UK tour dates that will commence in December.
The Chili Peppers embarked on a summer festival tour in June following the release of their latest album ‘The Getaway’. As with most Chili’s records ‘The Getaway’ has already achieved huge commerical success and peaked at number one in the US and much of Europe.
The tour initially began back in February with a number of North American shows. During these shows, the band debuted some fantastic new cover songs including Bowie’s ‘Cracked Actor’ and ‘Starman’. They also reintroduced some older songs back into the setlist such as ‘Nobody Weird Like Me’ from their 1989 album ‘Mothers Milk’, and ‘Me and My Friends’ from 1987 album ‘The Uplift Mofo Party Plan’.
The band have since played Dutch festival ‘Pinkpop’, ‘Roskilde’ festival in Denmark and ‘Fuji Rock Festival’ in Japan. They will headline both the Saturday night slot at Reading and Sunday night slot at Leeds this weekend.
