Rare Joe Strummer Tracks Set for Release in September

Clash fans rejoice. A compilation album that will feature some rare material and remasters of Joe Strummer tracks is due out later this year.

The album, Joe Strummer 001, is set to be available as of September 28th and will have a whopping 32 tracks for Clash fans to indulge upon.

The album will include some deep cut stuff including a demo of This Is England entitled Czechoslovak Song/Where Is England, a solo demo of Letsagetabitarockin recorded way back in 1975, outtakes from Sid & Nancy with Mick Jones and the unreleased songs Rose Of ErinThe Cool Impossible and London Is Burning. This was one of the last songs Strummer recorded with The Mescaleros.

Strummer died tragically in 2002 and only after his death was the treasure trove of material found. Included in the discovery were, lyrics and tapes, which have now been lovingly archived for Joe Strummer 001 by Strummer’s widow Lucinda Tait and producer Robert Gordon McHarg III.

All the material for the album was restored and mastered by Grammy Award winner Peter J. Moore at the E. Room in Toronto, and mark the announcement of the album, a lyric video for London Is Burning has been released and can be viewed right here below.
