Considered the 20th best guitar player in the world by Rolling Stone, no one has done more to fuse rock with Latin American music than Carlos Santana. As prolific as he is talented, Carlos Santana has produced 7 solo albums and more than 20 studio albums, 7 live albums, 32 singles and 21 compilation albums with the band Santana.
During his early years, Carlos Santana played a Gibson SG-Special and continued to use Gibson guitars until the mid-70’s, after which he switched to playing a Yamaha model. It wasn’t until the early 80’s that Santana began playing a Paul Reed Smith (PRS). He started out using a PRS Custom 24 and then, in 1988, PRS produced the Santana Signature guitar, which he has been playing ever since.
Working together with Santana, PRS have produced 9 different Santana Signature models. The more recent version is made with a combination of maple (front), mahogany (back) and rosewood (fretboard). It comes with custom made pickups and a tremolo bridge. A truly beautiful creation, it is easy to understand why Santana plays nothing else!
