When funk pop icon Prince left this world this past spring, we mourned his loss, remembered his greatest moments in music history, and moved forward with his smash hits like “Raspberry Beret”, “When Doves Cry”, and “I Wanna Be Your Lover” tucked safely in our hearts.
Some of Prince’s biggest fans, however, are mourning a different kind of loss: the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch his upcoming tribute concert this fall.
“The Official Prince Tribute, a Celebration of Life and Music” will be held at Excel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 13, and tickets to the show went on sale at Ticketmaster at 10AM Monday, September 19.
Of course, tickets sold out at lightning speed.
Fans who were lucky enough to score seats paid anywhere from $19.99 to $152.50, while others were unfortunately met with some bad news by a message stating, “No tickets but keep trying. Other fans may have reserved and released seats!”
According to the Star Tribune, by midmorning a number of people were texted via the Ticketmaster site claiming more tickets had been released, but eager fans returned only to find single seats were all that was left.
Among the list of superstars on the lineup are Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Tori Kelly, Christina Aguilera, John Mayer, Doug E. Fresh, Anita Baker, Bilal, Luke James, Mint Condition, Liv Warfield, Judith Hill, and Morris Day and the Time.
