Are Pink Floyd About to Release a New Version of Animals?

Fancy hearing a new 5.1 mix of Pink Floyd’s 1977 classic ‘Animals?’

Well you may well get your chance. The bands founder member and former bassist Roger Waters, was asked recently in an interview with Prog magazine, if he was working on anything to do with his former band?

Waters replied: “Yeah. I’ve just been working with Po. There’s a re-issue of Animals. A 5.1 mix of Animals so I’ve been working… Well I haven’t been working, he’s been working. He came up with some new photographs of Battersea Power Station as it is now to use as a CD cover for the new 5.1 mix. It’s beautiful.”

Re-releases from Pink Floyd are nothing new, the band released Immersion box sets of two of their best-selling albums to date in 2011- Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here. This was followed by The Wall in 2012. And a 20th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set of The Division Bell was released in 2014. That being said, Animals has never been accorded such an honor.

Even though Waters has hinted at the re-release, the bands label has given no official word on the reissue, all we can say is, you’ll know the moment we know so, watch this space!
