Paul McCartney Plays Surprise Show For 300 People

Paul McCartney Performs At PETCO ParkLegendary Beatles member Paul McCartney played an incredible surprise show earlier this week, for a shocked audience of around 300 people. The iconic singer turned up at the small roadhouse venue of ‘Pappy & Harriet’s’, and thrilled fans with a 22 song set that included hits from his solo records, Wings, and The Beatles.

McCartney is due to headline this weekends Desert Trip festival. The festival takes place out in the California desert just west of Coachella, and features a star studded line up of legendary bands and musicians, including: The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Roger Waters, The Who and Bob Dylan. Due to its esteemed guests, the festival has been affectionately nicknamed both ‘Oldchella’ and ‘The retirement home for genteel English musicians’ (the latter being a quip from Mick Jagger himself).

There is estimated to be a crowd of around 75,000 people at the main stage of the venue. Only 300 of them however, were lucky enough to catch McCartney’s appearance at Pappy & Harriet’s, in Pioneertown. During the course of the set McCartney joked: “This is the biggest gig we ever played!”

Queens of the Stone Age singer and Palm Desert native Josh Homme, is reported to have been one of the fortunate crowd members, although we suspect he may have been tipped off.
