New Allman Brothers Four-CD Collection Set For Release

-

To co-inside with the band’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, a new archival live album that captured the classic line-up of The Allman Brothers Band playing multiple shows at San Francisco’s Fillmore West venue in January 1971 will be available on September 6th.

The album will be simply titled Fillmore West ’71 and will be released as a tidy four-CD set, and will feature some previously unreleased performances from the band’s three-night stand over January 29th, 30th and 31st.

The San Francisco shows happened only a few months before The Allman Brothers’ historic performances at the Fillmore East in New York City, that gig was documented and became the band’s classic 1971 live album ‘At Fillmore East.’

Focusing on Fillmore West shows, these gigs have us hear early versions of some of their classics that include “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” “Midnight Rider,” “Dreams” and “Whipping Post.”

The band also cover some classic tunes like Blind Willie McTell’s “Statesboro Blues,” Muddy Waters’ “Trouble No More” and Willie Cobbs’ “You Don’t Love Me.”
