New Acts Added To Reading & Leeds Festivals

rhcp5The Reading and Leeds Festivals are definitely one of the highlights of the British summer and arguably second only to Glastonbury. This years attendees will be pleased to know a number of new acts have been added to the line up for the big August bank holiday bash.

The weekend festivals take place simultaneously between August 26-28 and are notorious for adding last minute special guests and mystery bands. The festival organisers are also well known for leaking line up information over a long period of time, with festivals goers often finding out the headlining acts only weeks before the actual festival.

Undoubtedly this years major players are the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who will be headlining Saturday night at Reading and Sunday night at Leeds. Along with the mighty Chilis the festivals are also set to feature Foals, Biffy Clyro, Disclosure, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy and Slaves on the main stage; and huge acts such as Two Door Cinema Club, The 1975, Nas, The Wombats and Crystal Castles on the NME stage.

The latest news from Reading & Leeds is that indie record label Transgressive Records will be putting on a special after hours set on the alternative stage. The set (although a small part of the overall festival) is actually set to feature some incredible bands and DJ’s including: Metronomy, Fat White Family, Pulled Apart By Horses, Peace, Hinds and Peep Show’s own Super Hans.

If that wasn’t enough, following the bands there will also be special DJ sets from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Honne, Jen Long and Loyle Carner.

Transgressive Record’s Tony L had this to say about the set: “This time, we cannot wait to welcome Loyle Carner – one of the most important new artists on the planet right now – to the stage, plus Fat White Family, Honne and all our guest DJs, not least a very welcome return from Metronomy. Meanwhile, God only knows what Super-Hans has in store for us; his first ever Glastonbury appearance this summer is already the stuff of legend. After the headliners finish, come and pay us a visit – we’ll be expecting you.”
