Morrissey Considers Running for Mayor of London

With song titles like “Bigmouth Strikes Again” and “Frankly Mr Shankly” ex-Smith’s singer Morrissey has never been short of opinion. Somehow then, it may take you as no surprise that he has been asked to run for Mayor of London with the singer “seriously considering” the political post.

A statement from the 56 year old on the Morrissey-favored website True to You claims that moz sqthe singer has been invited to join the Animal Welfare Party for the upcoming election and join the race to succeed Boris Johnson.

Through the webzine, Morrissey said: “There must be a governmental voice against the hellish and archaic social injustice allotted to animals in the United Kingdom simply because those animals do not speak English, otherwise millions of very caring citizens are greatly concerned about issues that no one is able to do anything about.”

Throughout the statement the singer compared killing animals for food to the Holocaust and even took a pot shot at celebrity chef Jamie Oliver branding him an “animal serial killer.” He says:

“The abattoir is the modern continuation of the Nazi concentration camp, and if you are a part of the milk-drinking population, then you condone systems of torture. There is no such thing as humane slaughter, and if you believe that there is, then why not experience it for yourself?

If animal serial killer Jamie Oliver feels so passionate about including ‘kid meat’ (young goat) into the human diet, would he consider putting forth one of his own kids (children) for general consumption? If not, why not?”

Interestingly, Morrissey would only need the 330 signatures to be able to enter the contest.

The London mayoral election takes place on May 5th.
