Meat Loaf Collapses Live On Stage

Rocker Meat Loaf collapsed whilst live on stage during a concert in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Thursday night and was taken to a hospital in with an as yet unknown condition.

The 68-year-old “Bat Outta Hell” singer had previously canceled two other concerts in the days leading up to Thursday night’s gig — Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan on Saturday, and again in Calgary on Tuesdaymeat sq—citing ill health for both occasions.

A live video of the singer’s gig at Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium seems to show Meatloaf dropping his mic and then falling to the floor during his performance of his classic hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).” His band rushed to his side to help, and eventually the band stopped playing.

Since the incident, Meat Loaf’s spokesman, Jeremy Westby, said that the singer should be able to head home soon.

“He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests,” Westby said. “His vital signs are stable and normal — he’s responsive and recovering well.”

At the show, “Meat Loaf had appeared to be struggling earlier in the performance,” said fan Mikey McBryan.

“It was him forgetting words, he wasn’t on cue, but it was forgivable,” he explained. “We’re all loving it and going crazy, and then it just took a turn for the worst.”

Meat Loaf, born Marvin Lee Aday, started his rise to meteoric fame via theatrical stage productions and rock opera classics including: “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”, “Two out of Three Ain’t Bad”, and

Meatloaf has had a prolific career, he earned a Grammy Award for “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)”, and the singer has also appeared in movies including The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club.

This unfortunate incident isn’t the first time Meatloaf has collapsed on stage. In 2011, medics were called in during a concert in Pittsburgh but the singer shook it off and finished the show. Also, in 2003, Meatloaf collapsed at Wembley Arena in London and had to be admitted to a hospital.

The singer has said in the past that he suffers from asthma and from a medical condition that causes an irregular heartbeat.

Here at RMW we have our fingers crossed that Meatloaf gets better soon and goes back to doing what he does best. Rock On…
