Gary Moore was one of rock’s most accomplished guitarists. By the time he joined Thin Lizzy, Moore was already regarded as one of the greats.
During the 70s and 80s, he penned some of the best hard rock solos of the era and built a reputation as a guitar master. Then, in 1990, a direction change, he returned to his blues roots with the release of his solo album, Still Got the Blues. To this day, the album is considered to be one of the greatest blues albums of all time.
Moore’s axe of choice was his 1959 Les Paul Sunburst. More than just a guitar, it was a gift from his close friend and British Blues legend, Peter Green.
His death in 2011 was a huge loss for guitarists and musicians alike, but Gary Moore left behind a musical legacy second to none. In every song he wrote, and recorded, you can hear and feel him pouring his heart and soul into every single note.
