Pop sensation Britney Spears has posted a new tweet that many fans believe is a response to Katy Perry’s recent comments at the Grammy Awards. Although neither party has confirmed that they are directly targeting the other, Britney fans have started an online hate campaign against Perry.
Britney Spears is one of the biggest pop artists of the last twenty years, and boasts some of the most dedicated fans in the world. Britney made worldwide headlines back in 2007 when she appeared outside of a drug rehabilitation centre with a shaven head.
Although many press publications poked fun at Spears in the weeks following the event, it has since been accepted that the performer was suffering from a number of mental health issues at the time. These issues were said to have arisen following constant hounding from paparazzi and ongoing problems with her then partner Kevin Federline.
Britney’s public breakdown is now very much a thing of the past and the artist remains a global icon to this day.
At last weeks Grammy Awards, singer Katy Perry seemingly referenced Britney’s previous problems in a red carpet interview with Ryan Seacrest. When asked how she was managing her break between albums, Perry replied: “Fantastic. And I haven’t shaved my head yet.”
In another recent interview Perry said of her current hair colour: “It’s like the last colour in the spectrum that I can do,” “I’ve done all of them and the only thing left to do is shave my head, which I’m really saving for a public breakdown. I’m down for that. I’m almost moments away from that, obviously.”
Perry’s comments garnered an immediate social media response from thousands of Britney fans, with many demanding a public apology. Spears has since tweeted: “Her mouth speaks from that which fills her heart Luke 6:45”. A statement that many believe is in reference to Perry’s comments.
