Justin Bieber has received a tonne of negative press this weekend, after many of his fans are claiming the 22 year old mimed during his most recent performances at V Festival in the UK. The singer took the headline slot for both Saturday’s event in Chelmsford, Essex and Sunday’s event in Weston Park, Staffordshire.

The festival got off to a rocky start before it had even began, when the festival organisers were forced to make a public announcement following rumours that Bieber had dropped out at the last minute.

This statement was issued on Friday (19 August): “The story that Justin Bieber is pulling out of V Festival is completely untrue.” “Disgruntled fans started a rumour on Twitter, but it is complete nonsense. It is really annoying that it has come to the surface so close to the festival. We can guarantee that he is coming and it is going to be brilliant,”

When Bieber finally did arrive on stage he told the crowd: “I’m a little hungover, I’m not gonna lie,” “You guys don’t like to fake anything in the UK, which I respect.”

biebervfest2Ironically, the singer was eventually met with boos for supposedly faking his performance. Bieber is thought to have lip synced his way through the majority of his set, with some fans even claiming that he at one point dropped the microphone and drank from a bottle of water while the lead vocals could still be heard.

Bieber’s camp have denied these rumours and a section of his fans have spoken in defence of the singer, claiming that it would have been impossible to mime during acoustic performances of certain songs.

It seems that the overall feeling for the majority of fans is one of disappointment. One Bieber fan had this to say: “Gutted! I love love love Justin Bieber but tonight at V he was miming. Not cool.”

We’ll let you be the judge.
