Imagine the joy if you were told that you were about to work with a few of your all-time heroes? Well, Jonah Hill is probably still pinching himself after finding out that it was a go, and that he’d be joining forces with non-other than Spike Jonze and the Beastie Boys on ‘Beastie Boys Story’, a stage version based on their 2018 memoir Beastie Boys Book.
The Philadelphia and New York stage versions will also be filmed, and Jonah will be producing while Spike will serve as the director.
Spike Jonze and the Beastie Boys have a serious history as he directed a number of their classic videos, included the hilariousSabotagein 1994.
During a forum at SXSW last week Mike D said: “We wrote this book and instead of going to bookstores and us reading chapters, which probably would’ve kind of sucked, we did these shows where we were on stage, coming together.”
What we’ll eventually see and hear from the stage adaptation of the ‘Beastie Boys Story’ is still hard to know, but rest assured, with Mike D, Spike Jonze, and Jonah Hill at the helm, it’ll be made with nothing but love, respect and a presentation that shouldn’t be missed.
