Pop singer Harry Styles has opened up about former band One Direction in a brand new interview. The 23 year old recently sent the music world into a frenzy, when he announced that he would be releasing his debut solo album next month.
Harry Styles is undeniably the most talked about pop artist in the world right now, and both fans and critics are eagerly awaiting his upcoming self-titled record which is due for release on May 12. Styles released his debut solo single ‘Sign of the Times’ earlier this month. The track peaked at number one in the UK singles chart, ending the thirteen week domination of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’. It is also estimated to have received over 16 million streams since April 7.
Styles is currently participating in a number of interviews to promote his upcoming record. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Styles discussed former band One Direction’s ongoing hiatus and possible reunion.
When asked why he personally wanted time away from the band, Styles explained: “I didn’t want to exhaust our fan base,” “If you’re shortsighted, you can think, ‘Let’s just keep touring,’ but we all thought too much of the group than to let that happen. You realise you’re exhausted and you don’t want to drain people’s belief in you.”
Hinting at a possible reunion, he continued: “I love the band, and would never rule out anything in the future. The band changed my life, gave me everything.”
Later in the interview, Styles opened up about his past relationship with singer Taylor Swift. Asked if he believed himself to be the inspiration behind Swift’s hit songs ‘Style’ and ‘Out of the Woods, Styles said: “I mean, I don’t know if they’re about me or not, but the issue is, she’s so good, they’re bloody everywhere. I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I’m lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That’s what hits your heart. That’s the stuff that’s hardest to say, and it’s the stuff I talk least about. That’s the part that’s about the two people. I’m never going to tell anybody everything.”
