Hall Of Fames Induction Class Of 2016

Well, it’s that time of year again folks; the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction season has begun in earnest. This year some of the long overlooked rock bands: Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Yes, and Chicago are among the artists nominated.

Other notable nominees for the class of 2016 include The Cars, Chaka Khan, Chic, Janet Jackson, The J.B.’s, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, and the Spinners.

Once again, fans have the opportunity to officially participate in the induction selection process. Beginning October 8 and continuing through December 9, 2015, the public can visit rockhall.com to cast their votes for which band/artist they believe is the most deserving of induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise of a “fan’s ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2016 inductees.

The inductees will be revealed by the RRHF organization in December. Then, the black-tie award ceremony will be held in New York City next April.

While some of the bands including Yes, Deep Purple and Chicago have had numerous lineup changes throughout the bands’ careers, the Hall of Fame has not yet indicated which members will be included. This was a cause for major upset for Kiss who publicly announced their displeasure at the RRHF to induct original members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley while excluding members who joined later.

This year’s award show does, however, hold the possibility of some reunions, including Chicago with Peter Cetera; Deep Purple with original guitarist Ritchie Blackmore; Yes with former singer Jon Anderson; and last but not least, Cheap Trick with former drummer Bun E. Carlos.

If you throw into the mix that the surviving members of N.W.A. might perform, and this coming straight off of the success of the band’s biopic Straight Outta Compton, this year’s performance would be a huge draw.

We’ll wait and see who eventually gets the nod, but all of the bands we’ve spotlighted at Rock My World more than deserve to be inducted.
