For artists looking to win or even be considered for a Grammy next year, pay attention. The Recording Academy has made a change in the timing for the event.
It was announced this week, Monday (March 25th), that artists that want their work to potentially be recognized for the 2020 Grammy Awards, the said artist or band will have to submit their material before August 31st, 2019. This date change will be the first change in procedure in the last nine years and means that the submission date is now one month ahead of the current one.
The cutoff date changed is apparently due to the airing date of annual the awards show. The Oscars will be shown on TV on February 9th, 2020, and with that in mind, the Grammys have decided to air their award show two weeks earlier on January 26th, 2020.
The Grammys were always pretty set when I can to their awards show and will be only the second time in the show’s history that the deadline has been moved from its normal date of September 30th. The last time this happened was also to avoid conflicting TV schedules.
So, knowing this, artists that want to have their music under consideration for next year’s award show, it’s time to get a move on and get your material out before August of this year.
