The 59th annual Grammy Award ceremony took place last night (February 12) at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Some of the biggest names in music attended the event with both Beyonce and Adele leading the way in nominations.
Before the ceremony took place the smart money was on Beyonce to take home some of the top awards. It was British singer Adele however, who managed to bag a hatful of prizes by the end of the night.
Adele won both ‘Record of the Year’ for her incredible single ‘Hello’ and ‘Album of the Year’ for her third studio release ’25’. The 28 year old also took home the awards for ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Solo Performance’, and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’.
In other news, British pop legend David Bowie won two posthumous awards for ‘Best Rock Performance’ and ‘Best Alternative Music Album’. Bowie’s last official Grammy award came way back in 1985 when he won ‘Best Video’. The singer was also given a special lifetime achievement award in 2006.
