Garage Rocker Ty Segall Channels T-Rex

American singer, songwriter and record producer Ty Segall is due to drop his new album, Emotional Mugger; but before his new collection of grimy garage-rock hits the stores and digital highways, he decided to take a step back before moving forward.t rex sq

Segall’s high regard for the beautifully “glam-tastic” songwriting of T. Rex’s Marc Bolan is well documented. Next week he’s proving that with the release of Ty-Rex, a compilation of the glam-god’s covers.

Even though most of Segall’s versions of Bolan’s songs have already seen the light via a pair of 7-inches that he released back in 2011 and 2013, his record label, Goner Records, collected and compiled them into one package for the first time. These, plus the addition of a previously unreleased cover of “20 Century Boy” has this shaping up to be one for your collection.

The album will be available in full on November 27th, Record Store Day, which is co-incidentally, Black Friday. So go on, give yourself a glam-rock treat and put some colour in your cheeks.
