Apparently the Foo Fighters are sick and tired of recent rumours that the band is to split. The band has released an “official band announcement” video in order to quash the falsehoods once and for all.
Websites in the US have been launching headlines postulating that the band is either breaking up or otherwise fighting; rumours have also circulated that Dave Grohl has a solo project in the pipeline.
In true Foo Fighter humour however, Dave and the boys have now mocked the rumours with a brilliant mock video clip that shows Grohl attempting to record a solo album, and the rest of the band trying to replace the singer with Liam Gallagher, Justin Bieber, Phil Collins and Gwen Stefani.
The video ends with the statement: “For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up. And nobody’s going f**king solo!”
A spokesperson on behalf of the band had previously told Entertainment Weekly that reports and rumours about the band breaking up were “utterly ridiculous.”
Fans were worried and had speculated that there was possibly a split or hiatus in the air when the band released the St. Cecilia EP in November 2015. Dave Grohl wrote a somewhat cryptic message that hinted at the band taking a long break of some kind.
Grohl wrote: “Maybe these songs are the bread crumbs that will help us find our way back when it’s time,” he wrote at the time of release. “We could use a nice wander through the woods right about now. Another empty journal, another tap on the shoulder … those things are never far behind. It’s what lies ahead in those woods that excites me now….”
The Saint Cecilia EP, which is available as a free download, features five songs that were recorded at The Saint Cecelia Hotel back in October 2015. The release, the following month, coincided with the end of the band’s world tour.
Since the Saint Cecilia EP release, Grohl has made a number of solo appearances including joining forces with Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp to perform at the Grammys tribute to Lemmy.
