Hip hop icon Eminem has been officially announced as the third and final headline act for Reading & Leeds Festival. Eminem previously played at the festival in 2013, but was criticised by fans due to rumours that the rapper was miming.
Reading & Leeds Festival already boasted a strong line-up with both Kasabian and Muse taking the first two headline slots; however, over the last couple of days around 70 new names have been added to the list; and 2017 is shaping up to be one of the best years in the festivals recent history.
Eminem first played at the prestigious festival way back in 2001 (the summer after he released his incredible record ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’). The rapper returned to the festival in 2013 – giving a controversial performance that caused many fans to accuse him of miming. The same fans are now voicing there disappointment in reaction to the recent news.
One twitter user even went as far as stating: ‘@OfficialRandL @Eminem Why the f*** have you got him again, I was there when he was miming and he was s***’
These comments do not seem to have deterred R&L boss Melvin Benn; who said in a recent statement: “Eminem returning to Reading and Leeds is beyond exciting,” “His 2013 headline performance was incredible and I can’t want to have him back. In addition to our third and final headliner – joining Kasabian and Muse – we’ve announced over 70 additional acts to this year’s line up – it’s looking stronger than ever.”
Some of the other big names that have been added to this years line-up include:
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes
Noisia ‘Outer Edges’
You Me At Six
