Legendary singer Elton John has hit out at performer Janet Jackson for allegedly miming at her concerts; adding that he would “rather go and see a drag queen.”
John has been known to voice his opinion of lip-syncing before: in 2004 he hit out at Madonna’s alleged miming by saying, “Anyone who lip-syncs in public on stage when you pay £75 to see them should be shot.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Elton talked about his past comments by saying: “I say what I feel. I probably went too far with Madonna, and I got very personal and I wrote [to] her – she was very gracious.”
That however, didn’t stop Elton from telling it like it is again when it comes to the miming issue, he said: “You know, f**king music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, ‘This is the greatest show – four and a half stars.’ It’s f**king lip-synced! Hello! That’s not a show! I’d rather go and see a drag queen. F**k off.”
Could it be that Elton is getting grumpy with old age? Recently, we posted a story about the singer accusing The Rolling Stones of being “irrelevant”; isaying the band should do themselves a favour and return to making blues albums instead of chasing mainstream chart success.
In related Elton news, John has said he is busy working on “killer” new music with Lady Gaga. Gaga, who is the godmother to Elton John’s children, is slated for a new studio album release at some point in 2016.
