Elbow Announce UK Forest Tour

elbow3Indie rock band Elbow have announced that they will be embarking on a tour of the UK at the end of February. Seven of the tours shows will take place at some of the UK most famous forests including both Sherwood and Delamere.

Elbow have spent much of the last year working on their upcoming seventh studio album ‘Little Fictions’. The record is due to be released on February 3 and has so far been supported by two singles titled ‘Magnificent (She Says)’ and ‘All Disco’.

‘Little Fictions’ will the band’s first studio release since the departure of their drummer Richard Jupp in 2016. Lead singer Guy Garvey recently discussed the band transition to a four-piece, explaining: “Of course it was very strange not having Jupp there. When there’s been five of you for 25 years and then it suddenly changes to four, yeah it was tough to get going at the front. It took us a long time to get accustomed to it.”

He added: “But then there was also really exciting elements of it. By mid-summer, it was making us quite bold in our decision making.”

The ‘forest leg’ of Elbow’s upcoming tour will begin on June 15 at Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire. The tour announcement has led to speculation as to whether Elbow will feature at this years Glastonbury festival. Two of the forest gigs take place on June 24 & 25 at the same time as the prestigious festival. The tour however does have an available space for June 23, meaning Elbow will be free to perform at one of Glastonbury’s Friday slots.
