Hip Hop artist Drake has announced plans to open a brand new strip club in Houston, Texas. The 29 year old told fans of his latest venture at the second annual ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’.
Despite hailing from Toronto, Canada, Drake has a huge affiliation with Houston, and has stated on several occasions that the city was heavily involved in helping him during the early part of his career. Since that time, Drake has made several steps to help promote the city, including creating the ‘Houston Appreciation Weekend’, and namechecking the city in several of his songs.
His latest project, which he has described as a ‘classy’ strip club is set to open in 2017 and will be named ‘The Ballet’. Drake divulged some information to fans at his pop up last night at the Toyota Centre, stating: “There’s a culture out there of dancing and it’s not about no strip club shit. It’s about these amazing women that we’ve got in one spot, the music that we’ve got, and the Houston culture that we got. I just wanna let you know that I’m going to bring it to you in the most honest and genuine way possible.”
The news marks another pivotal event in what has been a huge year for Drake. The rapper dropped his latest (and most successful) album ‘Views’ back in April. By late July his hit single ‘One Dance’ had become the most successful UK number one of the century, and almost broke a record for the longest standing number one of all time. It has since gone platinum in over seven countries.
Drake also made public his relationship with pop singer Rihanna last week, spawning a new power couple in the music community.
The rapper posted further information about ‘The Ballet’ on his instagram earlier today. The post read: “Tonight is a different take on how it should be done in Houston, Treat yourself don’t cheat yourself. Where the women are on a pedestal and the surroundings are unforgettable.”
