Craig David Announces New Album

craigdavid1British R&B artist Craig David will be releasing a brand new album next month. It will be the singers first full LP since 2010’s ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’.

Craig David rose to fame amidst the UK Garage scene of the late 1990s, and achieved commercial success when he featured on the Artful Dodger single ‘Re-Rewind’. He released his first solo album ‘Born To Do It’ a year later. The album was a hugely popular and spawned 4 hit singles ‘Walking Away’, ‘7 Days’, ‘Rendezvous’ and ‘Fill Me In’.

David broke a record in 2000 when ‘Fill Me In’ hit the top spot, making the then 18 year old the youngest male artist to achieve a UK number 1 single. The record had previously been held by Jimmy Osmond. David’s success continued throughout the early 2000s however his career took a bizarre turn due to the comedy TV show ‘Bo Selecta’.

The show featured a parody caricature of David, making him the subject of ridicule in the UK for a number of years. Reports even circulated that David had fled the country to escape the negative attention the show was bringing him, David has since denied these reports.

Now, there is a new generation of music listeners who are largely unaware of David’s early work and ‘Bo Selecta’, and David is experiencing somewhat of a resurgence. His 2015 single ‘When The Bassline Drops’ was a surprise hit in the UK and entered at number 10 in the charts.

The song will feature on David’s upcoming album entitled ‘Following My Intuition’ which will be released on September 30. The album is set to feature a number of guest collaborators including: Big Narstie, Blonde, Lauren Faith and Kaytranada.
