Coronavirus Forces Green Day to Postpone Asian Tour


As the Covid-19 virus spreads around the world, Green Day have made the decision to postpone their upcoming Asian tour until it is safer to travel.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Green Day said, “We have unfortunately made the difficult decision to postpone our upcoming shows in Asia due to health + travel concerns with coronavirus. We know it sucks, as we were looking forward to seeing you all, but hold on to your tickets we’ll be announcing the new dates very soon.”

While the virus has now gone global, with cases cited in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Nigeria, to name a few, the coronavirus originated in China and has since spread most in the surrounding countries.

Green Day were due to start their Asian tour on March 8th in Singapore, before moving on to play gigs in Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan.

And Green Day are the not the first band to rearrange gigs in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Pixies recently cancelled three gigs due to take place in China and the heavy metal group, Testament cancelled shows in Italy.

For now, fans will have to make do with listening to Green Day’s new, number 1 album, Father of All…
