Coldplay’s new video is like is a masterpiece of film according to singer Chris Martin.
Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia directed the video for “Up&Up”, the third single taken from the new Coldplay album A Head Full Of Dreams. The video features the band members incorporated into various surreal and naturalistic scenarios, and is seriously trippy.
The video is so good that it went viral at a whirlwind pace with the clicks continuing to roll in over the visual ingenuity of the video.
Coldplay’s Chris Martin said that: “the video is – I’m going to drop the mic here and say I think it’s one of the best videos people have made. Even if you took the music away.
“This is made by these Israeli guys, these young guys called Vania and Gal. I just saw it right now and I was: ‘I can’t believe that’s our video.’ If that was someone else’s video I’d be so jealous,” added Martin.
Speaking of the video’s directors, the singer said: “they have this whole visual way of looking at things that I could never have thought of myself.”
In related Coldplay news: Chris Martin recently discussed the future of the band in a new interview with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show.
“We’re comfortable with being who we are at the moment,” Martin told Lowe. “I think when we let go of the idea we had to try and win everyone over I think that was really liberating.”
Adding: “I’d be surprised if there was another conventional Coldplay album. I just feel like we’re right where we’re supposed to be right now. I meant what I said to you a couple of years ago I feel like this is a closing chapter of something. I stand by that I’m afraid.”
With Coldplay currently on its world tour and the band’s Glastonbury headline slot this summer looming, Martin said: “That’s the closest thing we have to a homecoming so it just feels so special. I’m so happy to be able to play it.”
