Chris Brown has been arrested at his home in Los Angeles after being accused of threatening a woman with a gun. The singer is said to have been involved in a stand-off with local authorities before eventually being taken in. Brown’s bail was posted at $250,000.
Brown has had a fairly chequered past in terms of criminal convictions and was at the centre of one of the biggest new stories of 2009, when he assaulted his then girlfriend pop singer Rihanna. Following the assault, Brown was sentenced to five years of probation, one year of domestic violence counselling and six months of community service.
The singers latest arrest involves arguably far more serious charges. Brown is alleged to have pointed a gun at beauty queen Baylee Curran and asked her to leave his house, after she had been admiring a friends jewellery. Brown’s lawyer has since tweeted that the accusations are ‘demonstrably false’.
Following Curran’s departure, she called the police, who were denied entry to Browns mansion and forced to wait for a search warrant. During this time Brown posted a series of video’s on his instagram profile that have since been removed. Brown is also said to have thrown a duffel bag from the house containing a gun and various illegal substances.
In Brown’s instagram posts the singer proclaims his innocence as well as voicing support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Brown stated: “When you get the warrant for whatever you need to do, you’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing, you idiots,”
He continued: “You’re all the worst gang in the world, the police.”
Fellow RnB artist and friend of Brown, Ray J was also present during the event, and initially arrested by police along with almost a dozen other guests. Ray J has today taken to Brown’s instagram page to further deny the allegations.
