Here we go folks, we’ve been waiting a while now to see the new Freddie Mercury/ Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ and here it is, the first trailer has hit social media, giving us a sense of how it looks and feels. We have to say, so far, it’s a thumbs up.
Rami Malek, who you may know from the film ‘Mr Robot,’ stars as Mercury and looks to be doing a fine job for the film which is due out November 2nd.
The trailer is a minute and a half long and chugs along to the bassline from “Another One Bites the Dust,” while other Queen tracks are mashed up behind it. In the minute plus clip we get lots of face time of Malek playing Mercury and he pretty much nails it.
The clip shows recreations of Queens big on and off stage moments, and when you add shots of the band meeting, fighting, and let’s not forget, the writing one of the greatest songs ever, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” you have what seems to be a fantastic film to look forward to.
At one point a record exec complains about the length of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by saying: “It goes on forever! Six bloody minutes!” Rami, as Mercury gives a classic response: “I pity your wife if you think six minutes is forever.”
The backing track for the film was always going to sound right, you just paly the classics, but, what about the actors playing the band? Well, we have to say we think they did a fine job casting Joseph Mazzello as bassist John Deacon, Ben Hardy as drummer Roger Taylor, and Gwilym Lee as guitarist Brian May.
