The original Live Aid was back in 1985, and one of its participants, Brian May of Queen is now calling for another with the aim at tackling climate change.
Queen’s performance that day was arguably one of their greatest ever and helped raise millions for the famine in Ethiopia, but this time around May says it’s time to do something to save the planet.
May told the UK’s Daily Mirror. “It probably would take the younger generation to take that bull by the horns,” adding: “We’d help in any way we can, but I think that’s what it would acquire.”
May also points out that the problem is now so big that even a show as big and successful as 1985’s Live Aid might not even be enough. The original Live Aid has raised an estimated $245 million and was seen in more than 150 countries.
