Billie Joe Armstrong Sings On New Morrissey Album

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has teamed up with the ex-Smiths vocalist Morrissey and recorded a cover of the ’60s hit “Wedding Bell Blues.” The track was originally recorded by Laura Nyro and turned into a hit by the vocal group the 5th Dimension.

Morrissey takes the lead while Armstrong takes care of backing vocal duties along with Lydia Night of the punk band The Regrettes.

“Wedding Bell Blues” is set to appear on Morrissey’ new album of covers called California Son, set for release on May 24th.

Morrissey will perform seven shows at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater in New York City, from May 2nd to May 11th.

As we told you last week Armstrong and his bandmates from Green Day will be releasing a new book called Last of the American Girls, based on the punk trio’s 2009 single of the same name on October 29th.
