Arcade Fire Record Audience For LP5

arcadefire7Arcade Fire’s headline set at last weekends Voodoo Music + Arts Experience was not only one of the band’s greatest ever performances, but also included a special section where the band asked the audience to sing a brief melody to contribute towards a future song.

Arcade Fire have always been a band who like to do things differently, particularly when it comes to musical experimentation. During their epic Sunday night set, singer Win Butler decided to ask the audience “if they’d like to be on a record.”

When met with a flood of cheers from the crowd, Bulter continued: “You guys imitate me and if you sing it real good, you can be on a record ok.”

The short vocal melody that followed already has fans losing their minds over the upcoming record, which the band claims will be ready sometime in 2017. The record has so far been described as “dynamic, danceable rock with percussive heavy beats and a flavour of disco”.

Win Bulter also used the stage as a chance to express his opinion about oil giants BP, during the band’s Saturday night set at the New Orleans festival. The singer referenced the 2010 ‘Deepwater Horizon’ oil rig explosion that killed 11 people and caused one of the largest environmental disasters in American history, stating: “Whatever BP paid the state of Louisiana wasn’t a tenth of what it should have been.”

He concluded: “Fuck British Petroleum”
