AC/DC Fans Bid to Break World Record

We all have a soft spot for AC/DC right? Well, last weekend guitar players in their hundreds, got together in Sydney, Australia, to play AC/DC’s classic Highway To Hell in a bid to break a world record.

It was reported that some 457 musicians came together at the city’s Guitar Festival.  They were trying to beat the record for the Largest Electric Guitar Ensemble. At this time the record is held by 368 Indian guitarists who smashed out a rendition of Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door in 2013.

So, did they succeed? Word has it that Guinness World Records have yet to officially confirm that it was the largest gathering of its kind, but word has it that it’s expected to be confirmed over the coming weeks.

The event was a fund raiser for The Australian Children’s Music Foundation. All of the money raised on the day went to the charity. It provides weekly music education classes and instruments to disadvantaged children throughout the country.

For the last few weeks, speculation has been mounting about the current status of AC/DC. Ex members Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd were both spotted outside a studio in Vancouver, and not long after Stevie and Angus Young were spotted at the same venue. Mmmm, we shall see.

Check out the world record attempt footage below.
