Here’s a story that might bring a smile to your face. Road workers in London took full advantage of the UK’s empty streets during this coronavirus lockdown to give the iconic Abbey Road zebra crossing a fresh lick of paint.
The famous white stripes that were made so by the Beatle album cover for ‘Abby Road’ got a seriously needed touch up following the legions of Beatles fans who walk across them every year to recreate the cover of the bands1969 album.
It was way back on August 8th, 1969 that John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, walked on the crossing in order to get photographer Iain Macmillan his famous shot.
By the way, for all of you thinking of going to see the famous landmark, the zebra crossing is located right outside Abbey Road Studios, 3 Abbey Rd, St John’s Wood in north London.
