A Queen And Foo Fighters Collaboration Set For Record Store Day

Tomorrow is April 13thand, of course, Record Store Day, and with only one day to go before we enter vinyl heaven we have news that Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor have teamed up with Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters to finish a song that late the Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson started over 40 years ago.

Being sold exclusively for Record Store Day, the single is called, “Holy Man,” and the official word from Queen’s website says that Wilson wrote and recorded “Holy Man” in 1977 but didn’t complete it for his only solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue. Ten years ago, Hawkins put vocals to it, and now May and Taylor have added their own parts. The b-side is Wilson’s instrumental version that found a home as a bonus track on the 30th-anniversary re-issue of the album from 2008.

“Holy Man” will be the fourth Queen-related offering for Record Store Day, they are also issuing a picture disc of the soundtrack to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, plus a colored vinyl single of “Bohemian Rhapsody” with the b-side of “I’m In Love With My Car.” Brian May will also be releasing a 12″ single of his song “New Horizons,” he wrote and recorded the track in celebration of NASA’s New Horizons probe flying past Ultima Thule, an object beyond Neptune’s orbit 4.1 billion miles from Earth.
