2017 MTV Movie Awards Round-Up

-

On May 9 the newly revamped MTV Movie Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony included a new section for television accolades, as well as gender-neutral categories.

The MTV Movies Awards have perhaps not held the same esteem in recents years as maybe they did in the past; however, 2017’s ceremony held particular significance as the first major awards ceremony to feature gender-neutral categories.

‘Beauty and the Beast’s’ Emma Watson fought off fierce competition from Hugh Jackman (Logan) and Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) to take home the award for Best Actor in a Movie, and in the gender-neutral television category, ‘Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown beat out Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), and Jeffery Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead) for the Best Actor gong. ‘Stranger Things’ also picked up the coveted ‘Show of the Year’ award.
