No Average Rocker

American guitarist and songwriter Sammy Hagar first found success in the hard rock scene as lead vocalist for Montrose in 1973. He left the band after two years, and went onto a successful solo career. In 1985, he replaced frontman David Lee Roth in Van Halen.

Hagar, also known as “The Red Rocker”— a name he earned after playing a gig wearing red pants while performing his song titled “Red” in a small club in Vancouver in 1976— is the owner of a small independent restaurant chain called Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill. His restaurant has locations in Maui, Cabo San Lucas, New York, Las Vegas, Cleveland, and a soon-to-be location opening in West Memphis, Arkansas. He is also founder of the Cabo Wabo Tequila brand— and it looks like his love for food and spirits is about to take a new form!Sammy Hagar

On September 15, 2015, Hagar will release his second book titled: Are We Having Any Fun Yet?

As a follow up to his 2011 autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock, his newest book will include a number of personal recipes, as well as recipes from super chef buddies like Emeril Lagasse, who even catered his wedding to wife Kari in 1995.

The 67-year-old rock vocalist and guitarist from Salinas, California, who was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in March of 2007, says about his upcoming new book, “It’s basically my culinary biography.”

His next business venture is called Sammy’s Island. It’s a lifestyle brand that will aid anyone in finding those simple things for a simple island life with Sammy’s rock and roll flair; such as beach umbrellas, beachwear and barbecues— all at affordable prices.

“You don’t have to be a zillionaire to enjoy life,” says Hagar, and here at Rock My World, we couldn’t agree more. You can find out more about Hagar’s ingredients for island life soon! The book will be available in stores worldwide.
