The 89th Academy Awards is set to be one of the best in recent history after another brilliant year in cinema. Last week an official list of nominees was announced with both Damien Chazelle’s ‘La La Land’ and Kenneth Lonergan’s ‘Manchester By The Sea’ leading the way in a number of important categories.

This years Oscars will be hosted by talk show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel and will take place at Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Some of this years guest performers include John Legend, Sting and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

John Legend is perhaps the most highly anticipated artist of the night. Legend featured as both a supporting actor and executive producer for the film ‘La La Land’. He also provided the song ‘Start a Fire’ for the musical drama. Legend is set to perform two songs from the movie titled ‘Audition (The Fools Who Dream)’ and ‘City of Stars’. Both songs were originally performed by Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in the movie.

Sting is set to perform his song ‘The Empty Chair’ which was featured in the film ‘Jim: The James Foley Story’. Lin-Manuel Miranda will be performing ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from the Disney animated film ‘Moana’. There will also be a special performance of the ‘Trolls’ song ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling!’ by Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake scored a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 back in May for the song; that is also considered to be a main contender in the ‘Best Original Song’ category.
