Rockers Linkin Park have finally confirmed that the band’s new album will be released during 2016.
We got a hint that Linkin Park was busy recording the album earlier this month when a picture of frontman Chester Bennington in the studio was posted on Instagram with the caption: “back to work this week.”
Adding to the uploaded picture, Linkin Park’s rapper Mike Shinoda told the band’s fans in a webchat: “It’s going well. It’s gonna be [released] later… It’s probably, like, second half of this year, I think.”
Continuing: “We’ve started on it. We’ve got some songs [in the works]. They’re mostly just like words and melodies at this point… I think everybody is pretty happy with where things are at. [Guitarist] Brad [Delson] and [singer] Chester [Bennington] have been coming in with me a lot and… I feel like it’s really a good start.” “We don’t have any names for the songs or anything like that… it’s mostly just vocals and piano and guitar — like, acoustic guitar — and some samples and stuff at this point. And even as stripped down as that is, I think we’re all really happy and we’re really excited about where things are going.”
Linkin Park’s last release was the album The Hunting Party in 2014. The band’s debut album Hybrid Theory reached the Number Four slot in the UK charts and has since sold over 1,500,000 copies in the UK and a massive 10,222,000 copies in the U.S.
